"Hi my name is Ashley Ludman with Seaside Yoga and I'm here to talk about designing your own yoga mat. So to keep kids interested in their yoga experience I find it really helpful for them to take part in creating their sacred space. And the sacred space of a yoga class is your yoga mat. So with kids we've actually created a little magic carpet and they've actually used some acrylic paints and glitter right at the edges. We've also done fun things such as making little ties and fun little bells and jingles off the edges of the mats. And when they design their own mats it makes them feel a little bit more a part of the experience and part of the creative process behind yoga. I would recommend that they just keep the creative art work to the edges of the mat, because when they are in their yoga poses on the body of the mat, they want to have the full traction and not get their hands sticky with glitter and paint. But in essence that's how you would design a yoga mat and keep your kids enthusiastic about their yoga practice."
