"Hi, my name is Doctor Kim Makoi. I'm a holistic chiropractor from San Francisco, and this is pressure points of the neck. There are several different kinds of pressure points. Some of them are called 'trigger points', which are little bundles of spasms and tight areas in the muscles that are....have some toxicity build-up. Those are usually easy to pinpoint. You feel around different muscles until you find a real tight, tender spot. So that might be a trigger point. And what you do is you just press into that point, breathe deeply, hold it for about thirty seconds to minute or so, and let go. And often, that will relieve some pressure. Also, there are a lot of pressure points where the muscles begin or end, and, again, by holding pressure on them, it can help to relax the muscles. So a lot of the muscles in the neck actually have pressure points around the base of the skull. So just by feeling along the base of your skull, or your occiput, you may be able to find some tight spots. Some little....some little bumps that feel like little muscle knots, and again, just holding on to those with some pressure, breathing deeply for about thirty seconds to a minute, can help to relieve some of the neck tension. And that is how you work with pressure points in the neck."
