If a person can't find an employee's identification number, their HR department would be able to answer that question. Find out when it's illegal to ask for an employee's ID number with help from a certified personnel consultant in this free video on human resources.
Hi my name is Pat Goodwin with Pat Goodwin Associates and today the question is how to find an employee identification number. If you're looking for your own personal employee identification number and cannot find it, your HR department would be able to answer that question. You would have to answer questions in return by giving them maybe your social security number or the last four numbers of your social security number to give them some critical information that you've supplied them before that are keywords that they know whom they are talking with. But if you're looking to find someone else's employee identification number, I would clearly state to you that that is against the law and that's not going to be possible. It would be something that I can't understand why you would want to look at another employee's identification number but if you're focusing on your own, then make sure that you call HR and go through them. Your manager won't even know that. Your colleagues will not know that, but your HR department will know how to find your own personal identification number. Thank you.
