Make natural rust remover by mixing baking soda and lemon juice or vinegar into a paste, which can be applied to any metal surface that has rust on it. Allow the rust remover to dissolve the rust and then wipe it off using instructions from a remodeling contractor and home repair specialist in this free video on rust remover.
Hi I'm Tim Gipson and I am going to talk to you about how to make a rust remover. Now you can get commercial rust removers or chemical rust removers at any hardware store or home improvement store but you know with concerns about the environment these days it is very easy to make your own. What you'll need is you'll need some lemon juice, some baking soda and if you don't happen to have any lemon juice then you can also substitute some vinegar. What we want to do is we want to take our baking soda and put it in a little tub like this and we want to add just enough lemon juice to make a paste. So we'll just kind of add a little bit at a time and you get a little fuzzing and foaming action there. So you get kind of a frothy kind of paste here. So you make a paste and then you know if you have got some old drill bits or something like that that have a little bit of rust in them then you can just put that drill bit right in there and soak it in there and you want to leave it in there for a little bit a while and you want to let that solution, and of course a little bit longer than what I am just doing here but as you can see even with a short amount of time for that solution you can see that it goes right to work and starts dissolving that rust. So if you have some large surface areas you can actually just brush that on and take a brush and you know just a regular old brush, brush it on the surface and let it dissolve and work on that and then just wipe it down. That's all there is to it to remove some rust. So I'm Tim Gipson and that's how to make your own rust remover.
