To get a copy of divorce papers, first check with the representing attorney, and then try the country records. Find these important documents, and keep a copy safe at home with advice from a certified family mediator in this free video on divorce.
You may have been divorced for a while and now you're contemplating getting remarried and you can't locate the divorce papers from your first divorce. Hello, I'm Robert Todd and I'm here to answer the question, how to get a copy of divorce papers. Well you should have kept those papers with your important documents, but if you didn't the first place that I would recommend you contact is the attorney that represented you. If you were not represented or your attorney is no longer in business or you cannot locate that attorney, then the next place to check is with the county records in the county in which you obtained your divorce. By providing them with your name and the approximate date of the divorce it will not be difficult to locate your records. Then if you wish to actually go down and view them and determine how much of those records you want, you can determine how much you're going to photocopy and so forth and so on. It's really a simple procedure. I'm Robert Todd and thank you for watching.
