Hi my name is Tanya Bats and I'm with Physique Designs. I want to talk to you about exercises or yoga poses for scoliosis. Scoliosis is a lateral curvature of the spine. Not only a lateral curvature of the spine, it also might have a little bit of rotation in the spine as well. So here's some poses to help relieve any pain that you're having from scoliosis. I'm going to start with the triangle, it's a great yoga pose. Legs are wide, arms are open, this heel is in alignment with the arch of this foot. You want to inhale, when you exhale you want to reach over and revolve. Really rotate that ribcage towards the ceiling and that's getting a great stretch right here. Want to hold it for about 10 seconds then come up and do the other side. Another exercise is a great one, I'm going on the floor. So you just want to come down, have a seat, take your left foot, put it in your inner thigh, shoulders and hips are forward. You want to inhale with the chest and exhale forward, fold over that leg. If you can't reach the foot, don't worry about it. If you even want more of a stretch, take that hand, reach it to the outside of that foot and forward fold a little deeper. That is a great low back release. And simply do the other side. One more stretch for that spine. Simple, cross legs. You want to inhale, sit as tall as you can. When you exhale, you want to grab a thigh, press against that thigh and look behind you over that back shoulder. Hold it for about a second, bring it back and do the other side. Those are some great ways to relax the pain that you're having from scoliosis.
