"Hi my name is Charlotte Skiles. I am a nutrition consultant and clinical herbalist with Eat in Peace Wellness Consulting located in Austin, Texas. And today's topic is the benefits of Ester-C. Ester-C is a form of vitamin C, ascorbic acid and this particular form of vitamin C which the ester is referring to is simply designed to last in the body longer. So some would call this its half life, it's designed to circulate in the body longer than other forms of vitamin C. So that would be the perceived benefit. Now from a larger perspective, I recommend whole food forms of vitamin C. That's my stance as a practitioner is that ascorbic acid is just one part of a whole complex that occurs in nature and quite frankly we cannot improve as much as we think we can, we cannot improve upon mother nature in the foods that are provided for us. So my personal form or approach to good vitamin C supplementation involves a product put out by Standard Process called Cataplex C. Now this particular product when you break it down is 495 milligrams or what is called bioflavanoids and only 5 milligrams of what would be called vitamin C ascorbic acid because that's the way it's packaged out in mother nature. So are there benefits to Ester-C? I guess it would be depending upon your approach. If you want the vitamin C in your system longer, great, if you want a whole foods approach, that's going to be a bit of a different conversation. So that's what I have to say about the benefits of Ester-C."
