"Hi my name is Charlotte Skiles. I am a nutrition consultant and clinical herbalist with Eat in Peace Wellness Consulting located in Austin, Texas. And the topic today is about blood type dieting. Blood type dieting was first put forth by Peter D'Adamo and it's the idea that different blood types come from different regions in the world which ate different foods and how do we put that all together in terms of what diet we should be eating. And while I think that it's a nice experiment and I want to stay on that subject for a minute, whenever you hear anybody say that a particular is or is not good for you, you say maybe. You eat the food, you see how it shows up in your body and you make your own choice from there. No one particular diet is going to have all the answers or be appropriate for everyone. So when you're looking into a various diet, you go into it with an open mind of maybe, maybe this will be appropriate for me, maybe it won't. If it makes sense and the thought process here is are, am I eating the foods that mother nature intended, is this diet recommending those foods and then you step back and you eat the foods or a combination thereof and you see how you feel. So in terms of the blood type dieting, you are given a list of foods that are or are not appropriate for your particular blood type. And it is just of my professional opinion that some of this is right on the money for some people and some aren't. I believe that we're much, much more complex than that, we put different burdens on our body, we demand different things of ourselves and the most important thing is the context of that individual with blood type being a part of it. I think it's more important to know where your ancestors came from. Blood type may or may not be the best predictor of that. But to do some family tree research and to know where you migrated from is the most significant thing that you could do to support your body in terms of what your ancestors ate evolutionarily. So those are my thoughts on blood type diets."
