"This is Lois Adams, President and CEO at Freedom Pharmacy and Wellness Centers in Orlando, Florida. This segment is called Does Nioxin Work? Nioxin is a company which manufactures hair loss and restoration products. It is not a drug. These products are only sold through professional outlets, beauty salons and on the internet. They're supposed to promote a healthy scalp that could possibly lead to healthier and fuller hair. The product claims to restore hair with true and rare herbal ingredients, botanicals and vitamins, proteins amino acids and glycol infuse which nobody understands what that is ingredients to protect the scalp from drying and irritation. Next an intensive therapy follicle booster claims to protect the hair and scalp against the damaging effects of DHT. DHT is a hormone found in the body and what it is supposed to do is play a major role in hair loss, preventing hair loss. Rogaine works the same way. Nioxin will actually work by acting as an irritant and thereby what it does is to bring blood flow to the scalp and by bringing it to the scalp it helps to promote growth. It is in fact, it does in fact not promote hair growth at all unless there is a poor blood supply flow to the effected area and that is the primary reason for hair loss otherwise, it does not work."
