"Hello I'm Dr. Loretta Ciraldo, board certified dermatologist and author of "Six Weeks to Sensational Skin." This clip is about what is hydroquinone. Hydroquinone is a drug which can be incorporated into various topical creams and lotions. When hydroquinone is present at two percent it's over the counter, and then by three percent and four percent it's prescription. This is pretty much considered the gold standard at fading discolorations in our skin. So hydroquinone is a skin fading drug that works by prevent the formation of melanin in our skin. It actually is able to block the process of melanin or pigment formation in the skin.
