Video Transcript

"Hello, I'm Dr. Loretta Ciraldo, a board certified dermatologist and author of Six Weeks to Sensational Skin. This clip discusses acne skin problems. Now acne is a term that we dermatologists use to cover a broad range of lesions or things that can happen to your skin. So some people who have acne really just have an enlargement of their pores and in the worst kinds of cases there, you may see what are called open or closed comedones meaning blackheads and whiteheads. Other people who have acne have more of an inflammatory kind of acne where their skin becomes swollen and red either in the form of small red pimples or all the way up to big acne cysts. And basically when we talk about acne, what you should realize is that it is pretty much a disease of their sebaceous glands and the sebaceous glands are located in the T zone of our face so if you're starting to get either an enlargement of your pores or red areas in this T zone, it would be very good to start to research acne therapy. This is Dr. Loretta Ciraldo from Miami."
