"Hello, I'm Dr. Loretta Ciraldo, a board certified dermatologist and author of Six Weeks to Sensational Skin. In this clip we're going to be talking about FDA approved acne treatments. First of all I'd like to clarify what it means that something is FDA approved. Many, many cosmetic treatments don't actually go through FDA true approval but if you see something that it's an acne treatment then that means that that treatment is following FDA protocol and what you'll see is that the back of the box will have a drug label on it and it will say indication acne, it will then tell you the active ingredient. And it is wonderful that there are many good topical active ingredients that we know work at really resolving your acne. Both clearing up existing acne as well as helping to prevent new lesions. These include benzyl peroxide and salicylic acid. This is Dr. Loretta Ciraldo from Miami, Florida."
