Clean window screens by removing them from the windows, mixing a solution of water and dish soap, scrubbing the screens and the aluminum frames, and washing them off with a hose. Remember to clean both sides of a window screen with tips from a professional cleaner in this free video on housekeeping.
Hi I'm Rachel Yatuzis and I'm going to show you how to clean window screens. First if you want to really clean them the right way you want to take them off the window first because you need to get both sides of the screen so we have taken this one off this door and prop it up next to something that you don't mind getting wet or maybe even a little dirty. Make a cleaning solution using about two gallons of water and a good squirt of some dish soap enough to make a real bubbly solution to clean with. Grab a soft bristled scrub brush and dip it in your cleaning solution, then use this to clean your screens in a circular motion. Remember to get the little aluminum frame around the screens also because that is really what makes them look dirt to begin with I think, the aluminum around the sides because it is usually like this white color or black and dirt shows really easily. Once you have scrubbed one side make sure to flip it over and scrub the other side because you have pushed all of the dirt from this side to this side so now you want to scrub this side. After this when you have scrubbed the entire screen and all the sides you know the frame of it, grab a hose and rinse it off really well. You probably want to do this when it is warm outside not when it is 2 degrees like today but you know when they're really dirty and you are doing your Spring cleaning or your Fall cleaning it is a pretty easy thing to do if you just dedicate a couple hours to it and do all your screens at once. I'm Rachel Yatuzis and that is how you clean your window screens.
