"Hi, I'm Dr. Carol Clark, I'm a sex therapist and licensed mental health counselor here in Miami, Florida. In this clip we're going to talk about how to recognize an STD. An STD is a sexually transmitted disease and it's passed from person to person through some kind of sexual activity involving bodily fluids or blood. The way we recognize it is first if there's any kind of discharge from either the vagina or the penis of whatever color or any kind of sores. So herpes has a blister-like sore around the genitals or on the mouth. Syphilis in stage 2 is recognized by a rash on the palms of the hands or the soles of the feet. Other symptoms could be warts as in from genital warts and any kind of burning sensation upon urination. Women need to remember that it's harder to recognize symptoms because they may be internal.
