This is financial adviser, Patrick Munro, talking about What Is a Fixed Income Investment? A fixed income investment is just that, whereby you place dollars with a company, and in return for those dollars, at a future date they will pay you an income based on your age. And, of course, that age is normally for ten years, certain, that's the length of time that they'll pay you a minimum amount of income based on your dollars that are placed with the company. Primarily, fixed income investments do range from annuities, which are run by insurance companies. They're a very safe form of investment, because they are insured by the government of the state that you are living in and do business in. Fixed income investments also are treasuries, U.S. treasuries, and, of course, certificates of deposit with banks and other fiduciary instruments. They're everything that a security, which is a variable, as opposed to fixed investment, is not. And these fixed income investments are for people that have a low risk aversion.
