Hi this is Sammy at the animal care center in West Bountiful, Utah. We're here today to give you some tips on how to groom a Shih Tzu. We have Gizmo here at the clinic to help us out today. For the length of their body, you can leave it whatever length that you want. A lot of times they are clipped short for easy maintenance, because this breed is prone to mats. For in between the eyes, you'll want to use a number 4 blade, and very carefully shave in between the eyes, making sure to not get your clippers close to the eyes. Their head should be left longer than the rest of their body. If the hair is in their eyes, you can pull it back with a bow or a barrette. Their ears should be left long and natural and trimmed at the tips, just to give it a clean appearance. For the tail, you'll also want to make sure that it is left long, and also trim it at the bottom to give it a neat appearance. You'll want to make sure that their feet are clipped round, and in between the pads. And, use a number 10 blade to shave a putty path as well as on the tummy.
