Changing cat litter is important to maintain a clean environment for any pet cat, and finding the right type of litter can encourage good litter box habits. Keep the litter box clean with advice from a cat behavioral therapist in this free video on pet care.
Hello, my name is Carole Wilbourn. I'm The Cat Therapist here in New York City. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to change a litter box. In fact, I have Orion's litter box right here. He loves it when his box is clean. Oh, does he love it. In fact, let me show you how I scoop it. I put the scooper in and I scoop up the dirty litter. But guess what? The litter's clean. I don't have to scoop it. Great. I don't like to add too much litter because it seems to just go all over the floor. But that's up...that's up to you, and since I scoop it frequently, I don't have to fill the whole litter box up. And I think Orion prefers it the way I do it. Some cats like a clumping litter, and you may find that that's easy to use. What I prefer and what Orion seems to like, which is really important, is clay on the bottom and pellets on the top. This way, if the pellets pop out, I can pop them right back in. Once again, this is Carole Wilbourn, The Cat Therapist, in New York City.
