To tie a knot for a necklace, use a surgical knot, which loops under itself twice, and add a bit of fabric cement to keep the silk cord from fraying. Tie a secure knot when making a necklace from cording with instructions from a beading teacher in this free video on beading.
Hello, my name is Leonardo Martinez with Legendary Beads in Austin. Today I'm going to show you how to tie a knot for a necklace. Today I have silk cord, and what you want to do is make a knot, it's called a surgical knot which loops back to twice, pull tight towards the end, nice knot, cut close. Taking your bead tip, which is your hook and any nut cup, which will catch your knot on the end. What I like to do is add a little bit of GS fabric cement, place it on the end, just to keep the fabric from fraying, then put in your hook through your clasp. Important note, close your hook, covering your cup over your hook. And this is how you tie a knot for a necklace.
