"Hi, this is Jessica Claire with New York Dating Coach, in New York City. In this clip we're going to talk about the risks of online dating. I think that to most people this may seem obvious. People can lie or not be themselves. There's an obvious risk to not meeting someone in person. However in general I would say that online dating is just as risky as dating in real life for the same reasons. In real life when you meet someone they're going to put on their best face. They're not going to tell you all the things about them that they don't want you to know right away. There's sort of a stage at the beginning of a relationship where people are the best they can possibly be. And the same is true for online dating. Just because you read someone's profile and it seem too good to be true doesn't necessarily means that it is. A lot of people are very honest online. I think the key to this to sort of getting past the risk is to read with intention. Know that somebody is putting their best face forward, be prepared for some negative things to come out later on and the risk lessons a great deal. This is Jessica Claire with New York Dating Coach."
