"What we're talking about now is the proper technique for our running backs to carry out a proper reverse play. The running backs are very important in the reverse because they initially set up the play. In order to set up the reverse we've been running our fullback and tailback to the right side of the field in order to get the defense to adjust over. Now what we want our running backs to do is to finish carrying out this play so we can get the reverse completed. The first thing is the fullback. The fullback's job is to execute a proper fake. Once he executes that proper fake it's his job to fill through this hole and become a blocker. Remember, we've pulled the guard out of this spot earlier and he has to come up in here and he has to hit either a tackle or linebacker, whoever is coming through that hole. The second guy through is the tailback. The tailback is going to take the hand off and become our second quarterback on the reverse play. Once he takes the hand off he'll be heading to the outside while our receiver is coming across. Once our tailback gets in position he's not just going to hold the ball out and hope the receiver takes it. Instead, he'll take the ball out; he'll stick it out and make sure the ball gets into the belly of our receiver. Then our receiver can come across on the reverse play."
