"Prednisone can actually effect brain chemistry to make you think your hungry when your not. That is kind of frustrating, but there are things you can do to help manage your weight while you?re taking prednisone. One of them is to exercise as much as you can just developing a routine even if it's not a lot of time per day or very strenuous activity, just getting in the habit of that for a little while each day is both going to help manage the weight and the hunger. It's really important to avoid fad diets and really stick to a sensible diet of high in fiber and good protein. Talk to your doctor about how much of that you can have. Fruits and vegetables, drink lots of water, and really focus on fiber and staying full that way. You may want to talk to your doctor about potentially using antacids to help control the stomach acid that prednisone can increase to help control hunger that way as well. Also, potentially you may want to talk to a dietician or nutritionist about coming up with a plan to help you figure out what you can and should eat each day. Also taking into account if you have high blood pressure or other side effects from prednisone or other medications that you are taking."
