"The type of specialist who treats lupus and other systemic related diseases is a rheumatologist. So if you don't have one already, that's the type of doctor you should be looking for. If you live in or near a big city, you might want to look for a teaching hospital that?s associated with the University. Because they're going to be up to date on the most recent research and treatments. Its important to have a doctor who you feel comfortable talking to. Someone who will take the time to answer all of your questions. And someone who you just feel comfortable asking those questions of. Remember its also okay to question your doctor's advice. You know if they are recommending a new medicine or a new treatment or new procedure of some kind, its always okay to get a second opinion and find out what somebody else thinks. And just to remember that they're there to work for you. You know some people get intimidated by doctors, but, in the end they need to be there for you. And if you're not comfortable with your doctors or if they make you feel hopeless about your condition, that?s sort of the time to start thinking about finding a new doctor."
