Learn tips on doing an ollie and how to attempt various skateboard tricks in this free video series on skateboarding techniques.
This is Kyle Hovercamp from Skatechurch in Portland, Oregon. On behalf of Expert Village, this is the tutorial of how to learn how to ollie on your skateboard. In this clip, I will show you some tips on how to practice your ollie. Me personally, I practiced in grass when I first started. I wasn't moving so that made it a little bit easier. If you can't do it in grass, you can practice holding onto something like a fence or your hands on a wall or on the carpet or something, in your house if you want to if your parents don't yell at you. As soon as you can, start practicing your ollies while you're moving. It's okay for right now to not move and practice your ollie like on grass or on carpet. All the tricks that you're going to be trying skateboarding, you're going to have to be moving forward. If you feel confident enough right now, then just start moving and trying to ollie. But if you're not then it's, but you have to try it eventually because you have to be moving during every skateboard trick. If you want to you can practice ollie over a crack or drawing a line on the sidewalk and try and ollie over that. You don't want to try to ollie over and actual object when you're first beginning because you can get seriously hurt. Just practice over cracks or draw a line on the sidewalk, but don't actually try to ollie over anything.
