Combining the V-step with striking can be a powerful form of martial arts. Learn how to strike from our Muay Thai expert in this free video clip.
Okay guys, now what we're going to do is we're going to use our V-stepping and add it into some combinations using some of the basic spins that we learned and the basic strikes. So what we're going to do is first we're going to go into our overhead to the 45 here. Our overhead strike here, and then we're going to add our V-stepping in, so our right foot steps back, and as we do that, the bo unwraps. We come from here up over the head. We step out with the left and strike to the side. Let's see it again here. Here, we step in, overhead, strike out. We do that again. Here, come up over the head, nice and flat, step out, strike. You want to make sure that when you do this, you keep everything nice and flat because now you're adding spins and things like that. The spin isn't a vertical spin so you want to make sure you don't give any angled lines. It's flat out, flat over the head, side. Make sure that you're covering as little distance as possible, because then you'll have combinations where you make them bigger and they can last, whereas this one is going to be pretty much in one spot. Something else to keep in mind is keeping your shoulders down. A lot of times when people start adding this, they start hiking up and they do this here and my traps come up, my shoulders come up. It's right here. We come over this way, here, that way. Nice and flat, nice and strong, nice and powerful.
