From a new tube to a bike pump or compressed air, learn what tools you need to change a flat bike tire in this free bicycle repair video.
This is Jim Toledano for Expert Village talking about what happens when you get a flat. Of course, sooner or later you’re going to get a flat tire because sooner or later either the tube is going to give up or something’s going to go into the tire and into the tube and you’re going to find you have a flat. So what do you need? You need the tools to change it. You’re going to need a tube. This one’s wrapped up to protect it and make it easier to slide in and out of the bag. You’re going to need one form of tire lever or another. This one slides. These clip on. Once you get your tire the old flat tube out and the new tube in, you’re going to want to put air back in it. This is compressed air; it’s one system that’s used or else a pump. You need a pump on your bike available. This one clips to this tube. You can also get them to clip to that too. Basically, it’s very simple and all of those tools will fit into a small bike bag on your bike. Always make sure when you get on your bike that you have the tools necessary to change the tube and have them with you. Two tubes, just in case you have two flats or one tube doesn’t happen to be any good, and everything else that you need with you. That way if it happens you’ll be able to fix and not be depending on somebody else.
