"And today I'd like to share with you some information about keeping an I.D. tag on your animal, on your dog and your cat. A lot of people don't feel it's necessary to keep an I.D. tag on their animal. l; because their excuse is the dog will never get out, the dog is always by their side. I'm here to tell you that I get at least ten emails a day of people that have said that in the past, and then I get an email a year later saying their dog got out and they don't know what to do. And it's one of the most heart-breaking things because dogs can't talk. And if they have a wonderful home, the best thing you can do for them is to make sure that they will always have that wonderful home. So what I suggest is you go to Petco or any store that makes those little tags, and you have your name, the dog's name engraved with your number. Have one tag on there. Also, the backup is to get a microchip, which is a little seed that's been planted in their back. That way, if the tag falls off, the microchip will be there, if they're brought to a shelter and scanned. A lot of people just do microchipping and they think that that's okay. However, if a dog gets out and they don't have a tag on, most likely the person traveling by the dog will not help the dog. They will only help the dog if the dog has an I.D. tag, because they feel they can get the dog home. If they don't see an I.D. tag, they don't want the responsibility of taking on that dog. Also, if a dog is brought to the shelter without an I.D. tag, without any -- any dog that's brought to a shelter, if there's no I.D. tag to get them home, one dog most likely will be killed in that shelter because of that dog going into that shelter that day. So by putting an I.D. tag on your dog, you can literally save another dog's life, if your dog were to get out. We here in Los Angeles have earthquakes. All it takes is a door to open in an earthquake and dogs are out like this. So please, spend the eight bucks, go to Petco, and put a tag on your dog. Thank you. And our next segment will be with Jim Leske. Jim, thank you for having me here today. Thanks for being here, Sylva. Thank you."
