All address-finding web sites work from phone books and directory listings. If you cannot find the address you are looking for on the Internet, it is likely that the occupant is deliberately not in the directory.

Click on the person and address you are looking for. On the next page you will find a history of the address, a full list of personal data and a visual map for helping you find the address. You can zoom in, zoom out or expand the map.

Visit the U.K. Post Office web site (see Resources) if you know a Scottish street name but you still need the postcode. The Post Office web site has a record of every postal address in the U.K., and you can use its search function to find any full address. Enter at least the “Town” and the “Street” fields and click “Find Postcode.” This will search for the full address, including the postcode.

Use the Streetmap web site (see Resources) if you only have a postcode and you need the rest of the address. On the web site, enter the postcode of the Scottish town/city and click “Go.” The web site will take you to a map page where you can see the town/city layout, the street name and the exact location. Using the map tools on the right-hand side of the web site lets you zoom in, zoom out and print.

Visit the Postcode-Info web site (see Resources) if you need to just browse Scottish addresses. Click on one of the counties you need an address for (e.g. Glasgow City, Highland, Aberdeenshire). You can then find either a town in the county or a list of postcodes in the area. Select “Towns” or “Postcodes” to make your choice.

WARNING

The U.K. Post Office web site only lets you search for 15 addresses per day. If you reach your search limit, you must wait for the next day to search again.
