Resolving errors on the HP OfficeJet 7100 is generally an easy thing to do. This unit uses a clear system for reporting errors, and after the operator has taken the necessary steps the error message usually goes away on its own. Sometimes, however, those error messages do not go away, even after the paper jam or other problem has been resolved. When that happens, it may be necessary to reset the printer.

Pull the power cord out of the back of the OfficeJet 7100 printer. Do not power the unit down before removing the power cord.

Leave the unit unplugged for 10 to 15 minutes to clear its memory. Reattach the power cord.

Hold the "Enter" key on the front panel down, then power on the unit. The HP OfficeJet 7100 is now reset.
