There are more than 100,000 species of mould. Mould can cause health problems for some people, especially those with asthma or allergies. It thrives in moist environments. If for any reason your wooden bed frame was exposed to moisture, it is susceptible to mould growth. Removing mould from a wooden bed frame is necessary in preserving the appearance of the bed and protecting yourself and your family from the potential dangers of mould.

Remove as much loose mould as possible from the bed frame. Fill a spray bottle with water. Lightly mist the bed frame with the water to reduce the number of mould spores released into the air during cleaning. Scrub down the wood with a scrub brush.

Put a few squirts of mild washing up liquid into a bucket. Fill the bucket with water as hot as you can tolerate. Fill another bucket with plain, hot water.

Dip a rag into the bucket of soapy water. Wring out the rag well. Avoid soaking the rag with water; excessive water on wood may cause damage.

Wipe down the bed frame with the rag and soapy water. Use a circular motion while wiping the frame and work in small sections. Rinse out the rag often in the bucket of soapy water to avoid reapplying mould spores to the wood.

Spray a light coating of the tea tree oil onto the wooden bed frame. Do not rinse the solution off of the wood. The tea tree oil is a natural product that will kill any remaining mould spores.

Use white vinegar as an alternative method for killing mould spores on wood. Pour undiluted white vinegar into a spray bottle and spray it onto the wood. Allow it to sit on the wood for about one hour. Wipe down the bed frame with a damp rag.

WARNING
