Panasonic Surround Sound is a home theatre audio system featuring wireless speakers, an iPod station and a DVD/CD player. Panasonic is a world leader in consumer electronics. However, as with many audio systems, glitches can occur. Troubleshooting the problems is fairly simple, whether it be an issue with a sleep timer function or condensation forming inside the unit. Before calling in a service technician, you can take a few simple troubleshooting steps.

  • Troubleshooting the problems is fairly simple, whether it be an issue with a sleep timer function or condensation forming inside the unit.

Check that the power cord is securely plugged into a working AC outlet if the unit does not turn on. Press "CANCEL" on the remote control to ensure that the sleep timer feature is turned off.

Reset the unit by turning it off and then on again if it doesn't respond when any buttons are pressed. The unit could have malfunctioned due to static electricity or lightning.

Turn the unit on and wait a few hours before using if condensation forms within the unit. This can sometimes happen if there is a sudden change in temperature, as when an air conditioner is turned off.

Press the "STOP" button twice on the remote control, and then press "PLAY" if the playback control menu does not appear.

Move other electrical appliances, such as hair dryers and neon lamps, away from the main unit if there is a humming sound coming from the system.

Reduce the number of devices connected to the unit if there is no audio. You may experience problems if there are more than four devices connected with HDMI cables.

Ensure that the unit is connected directly to the TV and not through a videocassette recorder if the picture on the TV is not displayed correctly or disappears.

Adjust the "TV Aspect" in the "Video" menu if the picture size does not fit the screen.

TIP

If speakers are located too close to the floors, walls or corners, this can result in excessive bass.

WARNING

Random play and Program functions may not work with certain DVDs. This is normal. Playing audio at high levels over an extended period of time can damage the speakers. Do not locate the unit near heat sources, such as heaters or stoves. Do not block or cover any ventilation openings on the unit, as this could lead to overheating. Unplug the unit during electrical storms or when not in use for extended periods of time. Turn off power to the unit before connecting speakers. Failure to do so could damage the speakers.
