Photoshop has been the flagship product of the Adobe corporation for years. One of the reasons for its wide use is the array of tools and abilities it provides a range of users, from those making ads and signs to others creating Webpage graphics. One of the most common uses for Photoshop is in editing or otherwise altering photos. For example, if you want to take an ordinary photo of a person and give him the appearance that he is about to blow his cork, one way to do this to use Photoshop to make his veins stand out.
Load the image that you want to edit onto your computer. You can either transfer it from a digital source or you can scan it in.
Open Photoshop. Select “File” from the menu and choose “Open.” In the dialogue that appears, locate the file you loaded and open it.
Select the “Pen” tool from the toolbar. In the options at the top, change the “Mode” to “Path.” Use the tool to draw a path around one of the veins you want to make pop out.
Right-click on the path and choose “Make “Selection.” Click on the “FX” button under the “Layers” palette and from the options choose “Bevel and Emboss.” A new dialogue will appear.
Choose “Outer Bevel” as the type and adjust the settings to get the effect you want in the preview. The appearance of the shadow will decide how “popped out” the vein looks. The “Angle” will decide the direction that the shadow falls. Click “OK.”
Repeat this process to add the effect to the other veins in the image. Save your work.
