When you know how to change a hose, repairing small problems around the house is simple. The trick to changing or installing a hose is to remove the hose clamps first. Hose clamps are made of aluminium strips that are tightened around hose ends by turning their screws. You can find hose clamps attached to the hose on your dishwasher, washing machine and even under you sinks. If you suddenly spring a leak, change the hose out quickly, first removing the clamps. Turn off the water supply to the pipe before changing the hose. Call a professional to change a hose on a hot water heater or any hose connected to hot water.

Identify wire hose clamps by noticing there is no slot on the clamp. Instead there will be two small tabs.

Use a pair of pliers to squeeze the tabs together. Do this several times if you need to get the two ends together.

Slide the clamp off the hose gently.

TIP

Use a flashlight to find the clamp under sinks or in dark places.
