Vertical blinds are constructed of vertical plastic, vinyl or wooden slats secured to a head rail. A string is utilised to pull a level mechanism, which ether rotates the slats into an open-closed position or spreads the slats apart so you can walk through the door or open the window. If the string breaks, you do not have to replace the vertical blind with a new one. You can simply repair the broken vertical blind string in a few simple steps.

Locate the break in the string inside the head rail. Position a ladder or step stool in front of the vertical blind so you can reach the head rail.

Remove the head rail cover from the head rail. In some cases, the head rail cover secures into place with screws. If this is the case, use a screwdriver to remove the cover. In other cases, the head rail remains exposed. If this is the case, use the ladder so you can see down into the head rail.

Thread the string up through the hole in the bottom of the head rail if the string fell out.

Loop the two ends of the broken string together to form a small knot. Tie the knot as tight as you can and then trim off the loose ends of the string with scissors.
