Many hand embroidery and cross stitch charts are written to be used with DMC cotton embroidery floss. The same designs can be worked in Kreinik Silk Mori floss by converting the DMC colour codes to the matching Mori shades. Using silk floss adds a sheen and richness to embroidery perfect for heirloom projects and fine clothing, making it well worth the extra effort during the stitching process.

Identify the DMC colour numbers in your embroidery or cross stitch chart.

Use the DMC Cotton Floss to Kreinik Silk Mori Conversion Chart to match the DMC colour codes to Silk Mori shades.

If it's crucial that shades match exactly to DMC colours, you can order a colour card from Kreinik which includes samples of every shade of Silk Mori floss.

TIP

Remember that Silk Mori comes in skeins of 2.75 yards each, as opposed to DMC cotton which comes in skeins of 8.7 yards each. If your chart includes a number of skeins needed to complete the project, you will need roughly three skeins of Silk Mori for every one skein of DMC listed. The manufacturer recommends plying Silk Mori threads back together before stitching.
