Dropping your cell phone onto a hard surface or knocking it against a wall can badly damage your phone's body case or screen. Scratches not only make your phone appear unsightly but -- in the worst cases -- can actually make your phone difficult to use or see. Remove any scratches from your own phone by using one of the many home remedies or products.

Egg Whites

One of the many home remedies for removing phone scratches is an egg white-soaked cloth that you can make in your own kitchen. To make the cloth you simply take a small piece of microfiber cloth and then heat the white of one egg to 65 degrees C. Add a teaspoon of alum (aluminium sulphate and potassium sulphate) while the egg white is warming and ensure that you do not heat it above 65 degrees C -- otherwise the mixture will solidify. Throw the cloth into the 149-degree mixture and let it absorb the fluid. Dry the cloth in an oven heated to 148 degrees C and then gently rinse it in cold water for 30 seconds. Repeat the soaking process three times and then allow the cloth to dry naturally at room temperature for two days. The cloth is now ready to use: simply rub the microfiber cloth over the scratches on your cell phone. The mixture soaked into the cloth should work because the albumin in the egg white is a solidifier and should help fill in the scratch while simultaneously levelling and smoothing the sharper corners around it.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste can actually be used to remove scratches from cell phone screens. Simply wipe the phone screen of any dust or debris and then take a tube of toothpaste (any brand will work). Push your finger through a cloth and squeeze a pea-sized blob of toothpaste onto your cloth-covered finger. From there you need to rub the paste into the screen energetically and rinse it away with another cloth lightly dipped in water. The toothpaste should wear down the scratch and even the screen.

Professional Polishes and Gels

If a home remedy doesn't work for you, then there are several polishes on the market that promise to remove any scratches from your phone. Displex, based in the United Kingdom, offers a polish that can be rubbed onto any phone case or screen. The paste uses tiny abrasive particles to round off the sharper corners of the scratch and -- at the same time -- fill it in. Other companies such as U.S.-based Novus and the PodShop manufacture similar products that use the same technology.
