Ninety-five years is a lot to celebrate and whether it's your neighbour Maude, your Great-grandma Phylis or your Uncle Earl, the 95 year old in your life has earned a really special birthday gift. By the time 94 previous birthdays have gone by, this birthday boy has got a lot of presents, so give something unusual and fun, rather than something just functional. Consider the things your recipient loves and the things she has accomplished in her lifetime to give you some ideas of what gift will best commemorate the occasion.

Record a Birthday Message

A gift that will bring a tear to anyone's eyes is a CD or DVD of recorded messages. A couple of weeks before the birthday party, contact the guest of honor's friends and family to tell them you would like them to record a birthday message; this can be done either with video equipment, audio only or on the computer. The result is a compilation of memories and stories about the recipient, plus birthday wishes from all their loved ones. If you don't have the equipment, time or know-how to do this yourself, you can find websites online that will do it for you; just have friends and family call the number provided by the site to make your recording.

Geneology

Family is important in life and by the age of 95, a person has likely acquired an awful lot of family! Instead of giving the usual family portrait, make your own family tree to present at the party. Make the project as complex or simple as you wish. Some people will want to do research and include ancestors as far back as can be traced, while others will want to focus just on close family. You can create the tree yourself using whatever crafting materials you like to work with or you can use templates and software provided online. Either way, your family tree will be a gift that is treasured for generations.

Newspaper from Date of Birth

Another way to celebrate how far the birthday boy has come is to acquire a newspaper from the day was born. These can be framed and hung on the walls as a testament to how things have changed. To take this gift a step further, have a second frame ready and place the front page of the newspaper from the day of the party in it to hang next to the older paper for a nostalgic comparison.
