The BMW 325i is made by the German automaker BMW, and is manufactured as part of the fifth generation of the BMW 3 Series. It is the best seller of its class and contains the world's first lightweight engine, the BMW N52B30. This powerful engine needs to be worked and if the vehicle is not driven for some time, then there can be problems with the BMW 325i starting.

BMW 325i Engine: BMW N52B30 (BMW N52)

The BMW N52B30 belongs to the N52 engine series. It is a straight six-cylinder petrol engine made of a combination of magnesium and aluminium, very lightweight materials. The straight six-cylinder design helps to reduce the engine vibration that occurs in V6 and inline four-cylinder engines. It also includes an electric water pump and the BMW featured Valvetronic system. The engine has a large power output, capable of 225kW, or 306hp, on command.

Possible Causes for the 325i Not Starting

BMWs are considered the ultimate power cars, and when not used to their potential, they can malfunction. The engine needs to be exercised regularly in order to charge the battery, replenishing the significant amount of power drainage required to run the car's higher capacity. Not driving the 325i routinely will also allow carbon dust to build up in the engine, which is another problem that can prevent the BMW from starting. As a machine designed for power, the N52B30 performs at its peak when driven at higher speeds that require a great number of RPMs, subsequently pulling air through the engine and keeping it free of build-up.

Ways to Prevent These Problems

Starting the car and allowing it to run on a daily basis is essential; taking it onto the highway in order to achieve higher speeds is also something that should be done regularly in order to allow the engine to function at the capacity for which it was designed. Finally, regular maintenance is encouraged to check for engine build-up.
