Mercedes-Benz launched the Vito van in 1996, and it was quickly named a best vehicle for the model year, according to Mercedes-Benz. The Vito won a second "Best Van of the Year Award" in 2005, so named by a jury of automobile trade journalists, who gave the vehicle high marks for its handling and comfort. Currently a second generation vehicle, Vito -- a compact, lightweight van -- is offered, primarily to the European and Asian markets, in several trim levels.
