The top 10 furniture retailers in the United States include Wal-Mart, Rooms to Go, Ashley Furniture, Target, Staples, Lay-Z Boy Furniture, Ethan Allen, Costco, Sam's Club and Office Depot. However, best-selling furniture retailers vary by country and region. most of the top-selling furniture retailers provide a selection of different types of furniture including living, dining and bedroom.

Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart offers an extensive furniture collection which includes living roomitems such as futons, sectionals, sofas, loveseats, accent tables and coffee tables. Kitchen Furniture includes kitchen and dining sets, bar & counter stools and buffets. Other furniture includes beds, dressers, kids' furniture, desks, work centres, file cabinets, office chairs, night stands, mattresses, bookcases and media storage shelves. Wal- Mart has had a 5.5% increase in sales from 2004 to 2005 bringing in £1.3 million in 2005. Wal-Mart sold 3,189 units by the end of 2005.

Ashley Furniture features living room furniture such as chairs, ottomans, recliners, sofas, loveseats, sectionals, entertainment centres and occasional tables. Home accents featured at Ashley Furniture include rugs, lamps, bombe (china cabinet), bars, curio cabinets and various other home accents. Ashley Furniture had a 69.9% increase in sales from 2004 to 2005 and totalled £0.9 million in 2005. Ashley Furniture sold approximately 219 units by the end of 2005.

Target

Target features living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom and home office furniture such as coffee tables, counter stools, nightstands, bookcases, desks, ottomans, media storage, dining chairs, upholstered headboards, dressers, chests and various accessories for each room. Target had a 4.2% increase from 2004 to 2005 and brought in £0.8 million in 2005. Total number of units sold by the end of 2005 was 1,397.

Staples

Staples, an office store, features furniture for offices such as desks, bookcases, file cabinets, tables, cubical panel systems, storage media cabinets and accent furniture. Staples also sells office decor, safes, carts and stands, chair mats, furniture accessories, lighting and shelving. Staples brought in £642,850 and had a 5.2% sales increase from 2004 to 2005 selling 1,260 units by the end of 2005.

Sam's Club

Sam's Club features living room, office, dining room, kids and bedroom furniture such as sofas and sectionals, dining sets, kids' mattresses, desks and workstations, daybeds, rockers, recliners and loungers. Rec room furniture includes game tables, bar stools and lighting and decor Sam's Club totalled £0.6 million in sales and had a 5.6% sales increase from 2004 to 2005. Sam's club sold 567 units by the end of 2005.

La-Z Boy Furniture

La-Z Boy furniture features furniture such as recliners, chairs, loveseats, sectionals, sofas and ottomans. La-Z Boy furniture allows customers to shop online and has several collections, some of which include La-Z Boy Sleepers, La-Z Boy Home Theater, Outdoor Collections and Premier Stationary. La-Z Boy furniture brought in £0.6 million in sales and had a 1.0% decrease in sales from 2004 to 2005, selling 308 units by the end of 2005.

Costco

Costco's furniture selection features holiday and seasonal furniture, youth furniture, home office furniture, bedroom furniture, living and dining room furniture and custom installed products. Featured items at Costco include the Enzo Top Grain Leather Sectional Collection, the Patrick Bonded Leather Chair, the Herman Miller TaskPointe Office chair and the Kirkland Signature bed. Costco totalled around £0.6 million and had a 12.7% increase in sales from 2004 to 2005. Costco sold 346 units.

Ethan Allen

Ethan Allen provides products such as living room, dining room, office, outdoor and bedroom furniture. Ethan Allen also sells accessories such as decorative accents, artwork, rugs, lighting, window treatments, wall coverings and mirrors. Ethan Allen brought in £0.6 million and had a 0.9% sales increase from 2004 to 2005 and sold 279 units.

Office Depot

Featured furniture at Office Depot includes office furniture such as desks, work stations, file cabinets, panel & cubical systems, cart, stands and decor and accessories. Furniture best sellers include brochure racks, leather massage chairs, L-shaped desks and economy chair mats. Office Depot brought in £0.6 million and had a 2.1% sales increase and sold 1,016 units by the end of 2005.
