Updated June 26, 2018

Swiffers, cleaning tools made by Procter & Gamble, all use disposable cloths and dusters to do the dirty work. Several types of Swiffers currently exist, including Swiffer Sweeper, Swiffer Sweeper X-Large, Swiffer SweeperVac, Swiffer Dusters, Swiffer Dust & Shine and Swiffer WetJet. The kind of refill you need depends on which Swiffer you own.

Swiffer Dry Cloth Refill

The Swiffer Dry Cloth Refill works with both the Swiffer Sweeper and the Swiffer SweeperVac to clean your floors in place of a broom or vacuum. The dry cloth refills contain additives that cause dust and dirt to adhere to them and allow you to clean your floor. You may need several refills to clean a large floor.

Swiffer Wet Cloth Refill

The Swiffer Wet Cloth Refill only with the Swiffer Sweeper. Dust and dirt adhere to them, similar to the dry cloths, except these are wet and allow the sweeper to work like a mop. An abrasive strip is on one side of the wet cloth to help you get stains and grim off the floor.

Swiffer Sweeper X-Large Disposable Sweeping Cloths, Wet and Dry

The Swiffer Sweeper X-Large Disposable Sweeping Cloths work with the Swiffer Sweeper X-Large and are one and a half times longer than the standard cloth refills. The X-Large cloths come in both dry and wet varieties. The Swiffer Sweeper X-Large includes a longer pole handle than the standard Swiffer Sweeper so you can easily reach under beds, in closets and on top of shelves. The larger cloth allows you to cover more area at one time than the standard size cloth.

Swiffer WetJet Cleaning Pad Refill

The Swiffer WetJet works like a Swiffer Sweeper, but shoots out a stream of cleaner in front of the device as you move across the floor. It functions much like a mop. Instead of using a cloth refill, the Swiffer WetJet uses cleaning pads specially designed to work with the liquid that streams out of the device. You can purchase cleaning pad refills, as well as refills of the spray. The liquid refills come in two varieties, one works on tile and ceramic floors and the other that works on wood floors.

Swiffer Dusters Refill

The Swiffer Dusters and the Swiffer Dust and Shine use the same refill, which is essentially a fluffy yellow head that contains additives similar to those found in the Swiffer Sweeper Dry Cloth refill. This causes dust to adhere to the surface, rather than fly into the air as it does when using a conventional duster. The refills come in scented and unscented varieties.
