Glass Christmas ornaments offer a blank canvas that you can easily personalise to make lots of different Christmas crafts. Choose plain clear glass ornaments and decorate them for your tree to give it a personal touch. Or use the ornaments to help decorate a wreath or Christmas centrepiece.

Use glass Christmas ornaments to decorate a wreath. Use florists wire to tie fresh evergreen limbs or cedar limbs onto a foam wreath base, or choose a ready-made green wreath from a craft store. Attach a ribbon to the top of the wreath and wind the ribbon around it. Next, pick glass ornaments in the colour of your choice. Choose all red ornaments for a traditional wreath or make a whimsical wreath with lots of different colours. Wind a piece of florists wire through the top of each ornament and attach it to the wreath. Place ornaments at varied intervals all over the wreath to complete this homemade Christmas decoration.

Candle Display

Choose glass ornaments in a few different sizes, from very small to medium sized. Next, select a large candle and a large plate or platter to sit the candle on. Spray-paint all the glass ornaments so that they coordinate with the candle. For example, if you choose a red candle, spray paint the ornaments silver or gold. Use spray paint that is meant to be used on glass so that it doesn't wipe off. Place the ornaments on the plate surrounding the candle when the paint is dry.

Decorating clear glass ornaments is a craft to do with your children so that they can add their own touches to the Christmas tree. Use glass paint to paint designs on the surface of the ornament -- for instance, the children could use polka dots, stripes or write their name or initials. Another way to decorate the ornaments is to remove the top of the ornament and drizzle paint into the ornament. Rotate the ornament and let the paint make a design of its own. For another kid-friendly craft, cut small strips of paper and place them inside the glass ornament for a fun design.
