Short hair doesn't have to be boring, and styling your hair doesn't have to be complicated. Don't get frustrated by your hair and lack of style choices. Whether your haircut is a shag, pixie or bob, you still have options for cute hairstyles. All you need is a flat iron to create these fun, flippy hairstyles.

Shag

Part your hair, you can either leave the front --- from the crown forward --- straight or you can flip it out as well. Starting at the back, take one- to two-inch sections and run your flat iron through beginning at the roots. When you reach the very end of the sections, slightly pull up. Do not fully curl your hair. You want a slight flip, not a full curl. Repeat from the back of your hair to the crown. If you decide to flip the front, stick to the sections on the side, right in front of your ears. Do not flip out your fringe. Celebrities known for this style include Katie Couric and Meg Ryan.

Pixie

If you have a pixie cut, you don't have to wear it straight and boring. Instead, you can part your hair on one side and sweep your fringe to the side. The hair from your crown to the nape of your neck will be flipped out. Using your flat iron, take small sections, no more than a quarter of an inch, and flip out slightly at the ends. Do not curl the flat iron up until you are right at the ends of your hair in one smooth motion. You should not slow down to curl the hair, but run the flat iron through in one smooth stroke. Play around with section sizes to create a look that is the most flattering for your facial features. Celebrity style icons include Halle Berry and Keira Knightley.

Bob

Taking one-inch sections, starting in the back, run a flat iron through each section. At the ends, pull up slightly creating the desired flip look. At the crown, take your flat iron and pull hair through straight up about two inches from your scalp and then back down --- this should create a little height at your crown. With your fringe, run the flat iron through, but do not fully curl your fringe --- curl only the ends. Bangs should have a sleek look without a tight curl. Celebrities with this look include Elisha Cuthbert and Kristin Cavallari.
