The Copeland compressor company was formed in 1921. Copeland compressors range in power from small units for small air conditioners and refrigerators, to much larger scroll compressors used in large-scale industrial air conditioning situations. Copeland also manufactures high-powered reciprocating compressors, with power output up to 40 horsepower. In 1986 Copeland was purchased by Emerson Electric Company, and it continues to lead the air compressor industry in technical innovations.

Copeland Scroll

Copeland Scroll compressors are built for residential use and are used in more than 55 million locations around the world, Emerson claims. Copeland Scroll compressors are available in a range of sizes, ranging from power outputs from one horsepower up to 60 horsepowe. Copeland designed its Scroll compressors to operate with lower vibration and noise levels, as well as improved efficiency.

Copeland Scroll Ultratech

An advanced version of the Copeland Scroll, Emerson bills its Copeland Scroll Ultratech Compressor as offering superior comfort and efficiency. This compressor uses two capacity settings: 67 per cent and 100 per cent. When only part-load cooling or heating is needed, the Ultratech compressor is enabled to run at lower capacity. When heating or cooling demand increases, a modulation ring within the compressor is activated, which seals bypass ports and immediately shifts capacity to 100 per cent. Emerson states that running the Ultratech for longer times at the lower capacity lowers the humidity in your building and enables HVAC systems to work more quietly.

Copeland Scroll ZRK5

The Copeland Scroll ZRK5 model is designed for both home and light commercial use. The Copeland Scroll ZRK5 is a line of replacement air compressors, available from 1.5 to five horsepower. This compressor uses R-22 and R-407C refrigerants, making it environmentally friendly and easy to service using post-2010 industry-wide aftermarket service applications.

Copeland Scroll ZPK5

The Copeland Scroll ZPK5, another residential and light commercial compressor, is also built on the Copeland Scroll platform. According to Emerson, this compressor offers even greater performance, and increased efficiency by as much as six per cent.

Commercial Compressors

Emerson offers scroll style air compressors that support commercial air-conditioning needs as well. Copeland Scroll commercial compressors are available with capacities ranging from two to 40 horsepower in single units, and up to 89 horsepower in tandem-style compressors.

Copeland Scroll 7 - 15 Horsepower

In addition to superior R-410A (refrigerant) efficiency, Copeland Scroll compressors in this range also feature Copeland's Advanced Scroll Temperature Protection (ASTP), which protects the compressor from overheating the scroll. These compressors have a compact design and smaller suction fittings, which are more economical.

Copeland Scroll Digital

This commercial-use air compressor boasts very precise modulation from 10 per cent to 100 per cent. It can control temperatures within -17.5 degrees C, and, according to Emerson, offers a lower operating cost and reduce power consumption. Emerson states that this compressor is up to 30 per cent more efficient than using hot-gas bypass systems. It is available in configurations from three horsepower to 30 horsepower capacity.
