The MCI, or Medical Council of India, is the statutory body that regulates medical colleges, affiliation, new colleges and doctors registration in the world's largest democracy, India. The general guideline for a university or college to be recognised by the MCI is that it is included in the World Health Organization Directory of Medical Schools. However, the MCI reserves the right to recognise a foreign university. All medical students from foreign countries must pass a screening test in India before practicing as a doctor in India.
