The HP Compaq dc5750 is a small form factor computer based on an AMD processor. Although designed to run a few variants of the Microsoft Vista operating system, it also can be ordered with the Microsoft Windows XP operating system preinstalled. Given its small size, the computer is aimed at business applications where desk space is tight.

The dc5750 can be configured with 21 different AMD processors. While lower-end configurations have Sempron or Athlon 64 processors, Compaq also offers a large range of dual-core Athlon 64 X2 processors with clock speeds ranging from 2.0 to 3.0 gigahertz. Most processors have a very fast 2,000 megahertz front side bus, although some of the Semprons operate at only 1,600 megahertz.

HP ships the dc5750 with anywhere from 256 megabytes to two gigabytes of DDR2 SDRAM running at a speed of either 667 or 800 megahertz. When fully populated, the computer can hold as much as 8 gigabytes of RAM, although it requires a 64-bit operating system to access more than 3 gigabytes of memory.

Drive Options

Three different disk sizes are available preinstalled in the dc5750: 80, 160 and 250 gigabytes. All are serial ATA drives with a transfer speed of three gigabits per second. In addition to these traditional mechanisms, HP also offers RAID-capable versions of them. HP also offers four different SATA optical drives, all of which are capable of reading DVD and CD media. The lowest end drive is a read-only DVD/CD mechanism, and the highest end is a multi-format compatible reader, writer and rewriter with LightScribe disc labelling capability.

Graphics Options

The dc570's motherboard includes an ATI Radeon x300 graphics card with both VGA and DVI-D outputs. In addition to the on-board video, three additional options are available, all connecting over the PCI Express x16 bus and using ATI Radeon processors.

Although the HP Compaq dc5750 has a small form factor, it nevertheless has a full complement of ports. It offers 8 USB 2.0 ports in addition to both parallel, serial and dual PS/2 ports. Its audio subsystem offers a headphone port, microphone port and both line-in and line-out jacks, while its video system has both VGA and DVI connectors. Finally, it has built-in Gigabit Ethernet networking with an RJ-45 port enabling its connection to a LAN.

The HP Compaq dc5750 weighs 8.1 Kilogram. Designed to be used horizontally, It measures 15.5 inches wide, 13.5 inches deep and 4.5 inches high.
