When you host a group of 16-year-olds, keeping them entertained is one of the most important parts. Because a 16th birthday is a huge milestone for a teen, plan some special entertainment for your child's party. Choose what type of party you want based on your teen's interests. For example, the party could be formal and elaborate or simple and casual.

Plan some live music for your child's sweet 16 birthday party. This is the perfect idea for a more formal 16th birthday party. Have all the teens dress up and come to the party, which you can hold at your home or at a rented party space. Hire a band that plays lots of current music that the teens are into. The kids can dance the night away at one of their first dressy, co-ed parties.

Spa Day

This is the perfect party for a group of 16-year-old girls. Take the girls for a spa day, or hire professionals to come to your home. The girls can all receive spa treatments, such as massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. Let them get their hair and make-up done as well. For a 16-year-old girl who is into being pampered, choose this type of party entertainment.

Try this type of entertainment for a group of boys, although some girls may enjoy it as well. Get a group of his best friends together and take them to a ball game. If your city or a city nearby has a minor league baseball team, attend one of their games. Alternatively, go to a local college's soccer, basketball or football game. If you have a big budget, take the kids to a professional game.

Get a group of your child's friends together and take them to a local theme park for some fun. Go to a place where they can ride bumper cars, play miniature golf, use batting cages and ride rides. You could also take them to a business that has lots of indoor arcade games, along with food and music.

Pool/Water Park

It doesn't get more fun for some teens than a pool party. If you have a pool in your backyard, then this party is a no-brainer. If you don't have a pool, borrow a friend's pool or rent one from a local community centre. For another type of water party, consider taking the kids to a water park. They can have fun in pools, going down water slides and riding in bumper boats.
