What are the accent colors for sage green?

Sage green is a calm colour that is used in many homes as a primary paint colour or furniture colour. It is a green colour hinted with grey. Add an accent colour to sage green on the wood trim, accessories, wall art and pillows, to create a colour scheme that blends well and is harmonious in your home.

Complementary Colors

Complementary colours are opposite from one another on the colour wheel, but still go well together. A muted red, such as Venetian red or terra cotta is the complimentary colour for sage green and creates a space reminiscent of Italy. Purple, orange and blue are nearly opposite sage green and also work as good complementary colours.

Neutral Colors

Neutral colours combined with sage green create a neutral palette for your home. Examples of neutral colours are grey, beige and off-white. Or you can add a second accent colour that is a bit bolder.

Earth Tones

Sage green is an earth tone. Choose other colours found in nature to create a relaxing environment. Browns and yellows are examples of earth tones that do well as an accent for sage green. Analogous colours are colours that are near each other on the colour wheel. Besides yellow, darker green is another earth tone that is a viable choice as an accent colour for sage green.
