The HP L1908W monitor is a 19-inch LCD model with built-in antiglare and anti-static features. The monitor is Energy Star compliant and connects to computers and other electronic devices via a standard 15-pin VGA cable connection. Besides the standard features, the monitor supports additional energy-saving settings and theft deterrence technology through the installation of software on the user's computer.

Supported Resolutions

The HP L1980W LCD monitor offers a 1440 pixels by 900 pixels native resolution running at a 60 Hz frequency. In addition, the monitor will operate in four additional graphic modes, 1280 pixels by 1024 pixels at 60 Hz and 75 Hz, 1024 pixels by 768 pixels at 60 Hz and 75 Hz, 800 pixels by 600 pixels at 60 Hz and 75 Hz and 640 pixels by 480 pixels at 60 Hz and 75 Hz.

On Screen Display (OSD) Controls

Included on the physical casing of the monitor, the HP L1980W allows users to modify colour settings such as brightness, contrast and individual colour control, to zoom and to perform a factory reset. The monitor's buttons include a Power button, OSD up, OSD down and OSD menu select.

Supported Software

The HP L1908W monitor supports additional features extended by HP software, such as the HP Display Assistant and the HP Display LiteSaver Utility. The HP Display Assistant, which is compatible with Windows XP and with Windows Vista, provides a step-by-step monitor control and calibration program for tweaking the display quality. Although the user may still employ the OSD controls to alter settings, the software automates the process. The HP Display LiteSaver Utility, which is compatible with Windows XP computers, works with the monitor and allows the user to schedule sleep mode that may prevent image ghosting on the HP L1908W and lengthen the life of the monitor.

The monitor, including the bezel or plastic covering, measures 14.6 inches by 17.6 inches by 7.3 inches. The screen itself measures 16.1 inches by 10.1 inches. The 19-inch viewable area is a diagonal measurement of the screen. With the base and stand, the monitor weighs 5.08 Kilogram.
