Archos is a successful electronics company that has released an assortment of portable media devices to the consumer market. Archos has specialised in media players and has blended them with other technologies such as built-in GPS capability and video recorders. Archos players can experience problems and complaints involving the battery are common. While some Archos batteries are removable and others aren't, they are all susceptible to experiencing the same problems.
Battery Won't Charge
The Archos battery will sometimes not accept a proper charge even when the display is showing that the battery is charging. After several hours of charging the battery, you can then disconnect the player from the charger and the battery will still be low. The best way to combat this is to frequently check the battery charge by unplugging it from the charger every hour or so and checking the battery level. Unplugging it and plugging it back in again will frequently get the battery to start charging properly.
Loses Charge Quickly
Archos batteries are intended to be as efficient as possible but many Archos players have a large touch screen as well as Wi-Fi capability, both of which will drain the battery's charge much more quickly. As the battery ages, it is also more likely to lose its charge over a shorter period of time. If the battery dies quickly once, try recharging it since the problem may be caused by a glitch that then resolves itself. If the battery dies quickly on a regular basis, the only option is to replace it since Archos batteries cannot be efficiently repaired.
Some Archos players can only be charged through a computer via a USB cable unless you purchase an additional power adaptor. While this is inconvenient in its own right, it also takes an Archos battery considerably longer to charge through a USB port linked to a computer than it does with a traditional wall outlet. As a result, even when the battery is operating properly, there can be an extended amount of waiting time once the Archos player runs out of power, which can be very inconvenient when travelling or when using the player as a GPS.
