50 isn't old anymore, so gifts for men over 50 can be fun or exciting. (three men with notebook image by GeoM from

Although 50 is still a milestone, being 50 and over 50 isn't as old as it used to be. Men over 50 are still enjoying life and are more active than ever. When selecting a gift for someone who's "over the hill," think in terms of fun and excitement. Remember no one is ever too old for a little fun.

Active Gifts

Men in their 50s are often active and enjoy outdoor sports to stay fit. If the man you have in mind already has a hobby, buy him accessories for it. Perhaps he could use a new tennis racket or a new golf club. Maybe help him develop an interest in sports activities by purchasing him a one-month membership at a local country club or health and fitness centre. Consider buying him a basketball and hoop, or some gear for racketball. Browse any sports store, and you're sure to find something to fit his interests.

Modern Toys

Just because a man isn't a teenager doesn't mean he doesn't keep up with the latest in technology. Buy him an iPad or a new laptop. Or for something less expensive, buy him the latest in accessories, such as the new Arc Touch mouse which can lay flat when not in use or pop-up for use. Maybe it's time to upgrade his system or set him up with a camera so he can do video calls to family and friends. Other electronic toys he might enjoy include RC (radio-controlled) aeroplanes, helicopters and boats.

Entertainment Gifts

For a lot of men, grilling their steak is a good way to spend an evening. Look into buying him a new grill or accessories for his grill. Plan an evening with friends where he can entertain his buddies while turning over a few steaks. Buy him a personalised steak brand with his initials for marking his steaks. Or instead, buy him sports tickets to watch his favourite team. For a more extravagant gift, get him a season ticket. Consider all his interests. He may prefer to go to a concert by his favourite band. Or he might really like that DVD collection of movies from a favourite star. Just ask yourself, what is his favourite form of entertainment?
